Today's Sunbeam covers Salem County, New Jersey, in the rural, southwestern part of the Garden State. The Sunbeam traces its roots back to 1819 and the Salem Messenger, one of a number of weeklies that once served the area. In 1972, the daily, Today's Sunbeam, was formed through the merger of five of those weeklies. Salem County is New Jersey's least populated with only 65,000 residents. Located along the Delaware River and Bay, the landscape is dominated by working farms, woodland and tidewater marshes. Based in Salem City, the Sunbeam prides itself on being a community-oriented newspaper with a heavy emphasis on coverage of local government, schools and local events. The paper also includes wire coverage from the state, nation and world to provide readers with a full daily view of their world. |
