The Press-Register

The Press-Register of Mobile is Alabama's oldest newspaper, dating to 1813. It focuses coverage on two coastal counties, Mobile and Baldwin, and the large port city of Mobile, but also serves communities throughout southwest Alabama and in nearby areas of Mississippi. In recent years, the paper has aggressively reported on environmental concerns, education, government corruption, local and state business issues and hurricane recovery, winning more than a dozen national and regional awards for journalism excellence. Few American newspapers are read by a greater share of their local audience, according to findings of the Scarborough Research group. Fifty-five percent of local adults reported reading the Press-Register's weekday editions, and more than 65 percent said they read its Sunday edition.
