The Plain Dealer is the largest newspaper in Ohio and the 20th largest in the country. Its circulation is concentrated in Cleveland and the surrounding seven northeastern Ohio counties. The 164-year-old paper has news bureaus throughout the region and strives to give coherence to the area's often fractious politics. And, given that the medical industry is one of the area's largest employers, The Plain Dealer pays special attention to things medical with a five person health and science team. Other areas of interest: local government coverage, computer-assisted reporting, education and -- reflecting Cleveland's. preoccupation with athletics -- sports, preps to pros.
Today's Sunbeam covers Salem County, New Jersey, in the rural, southwestern part of the Garden State. The Sunbeam traces its roots back to 1819 and the Salem Messenger, one of a number of weeklies that once served the area.
