The Muskegon (Mich.) Chronicle, which marked 150 years of publishing in 2007, serves five counties along the shore of Lake Michigan. Chronicle staffers have won hundreds of state, regional and national awards for writing and photography. They include awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, Women in Communications and the American Society of Newspaper Editors. In 1998, two of the three finalists for the Michigan Press Association's Public Service Award, including the winning "Segregated Sundays," were Muskegon Chronicle series. http://www.mlive.com/muchronicle/ |
