Kevin Coughlin has covered technology for The Star-Ledger since 1995. He is a graduate of Rutgers University, and spent the 1998-99 academic year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Knight Science Journalism Fellow. He has done projects exploring implications of the Patriot Act, ways to handle information overload, and technologies to combat global warming. Another series charted the history of modern communications from the invention of the transistor in New Jersey. Coughlin also has reported extensively on controversies surrounding electronic voting, and traced the changing fortunes of Bell Labs. |
