David Sarasohn, associate editor of The Oregonian, is an editorial writer and editorial page columnist for the newspaper and a national columnist for Newhouse News Service. He has won numerous journalism and civic awards, including first places in the “Best of the West” contest, covering 13 states. In 2002, the Society of Professional Journalists awarded him the $40,000 Pulliam Fellowship for Editorial Writers for a project on the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial and the future of the West. That turned into the book “Waiting for Lewis and Clark,” published in 2005 by the Oregon Historical Society. Sarasohn holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., and a Ph.D. in history from UCLA. He is married, with two children. |
